Artificial Intelligence Researcher, German Aerospace Center - Deutsches Zentrum für Luft und Raumfahrt (DLR)

Seyed Majid Azimi is an electronics engineer and AI researcher. He obtained his M.Sc. in Computer Science in Saarland University during which he worked as a researcher assistance in the Computer Vision group of Prof. Schiele in Max-Plank Institute (MPI) for computer science working on the CityScapes dataset project with Daimler and published his master thesis in Nature.

During his Ph.D. in the Technical University of Munich (TUM) between 2017 and 2020, he carried out researches on the analysis of remote sensing data with deep learning algorithms for automatic detailed map generation including prooving the concept of automatic direct lane-marking extraction from aerial and satellite data.

Since 2016, he has been working as an AI researcher in the German Aerospace Center(DLR) developing AI algorithms for automatic aerial and satellite data understanding for HD-mapping and infrastructure monitoring.

Comprehensive, integrated, fascinating – researching for the world of tomorrow With 8,700 employees – including 3,400 scientists – DLR is one of the largest and most important research organizations in Europe. As Germany’s national centre for aeronautics, space, transport and energy research, DLR has a unique mission: · To explore the Earth and the solar system · To perform research on topics related to environmental conservation · To develop sustainable transport and communication technologies Moreover, as a space agency, we are also responsible for planning and implementing Germany’s space activities. Sounds exciting? Well, it is! Across 47 institutes at 26 locations, our scientists work on a unique variety of fascinating topics, tasks and projects. Their studies involve finding answers to the essential questions of our times and are laying the foundations for how we will live tomorrow. Whether atmospheric research, planetary research, solar technology, traffic management, aero elasticity, environmental monitoring, space medicine or another exciting research field – the chances are that you too will be able to realize your mission at one of our institutes. But no matter where your career at DLR might begin – whether in basic research or technology development – everything we do is aimed at benefiting society and future generations. In addition, our work contributes to ensuring Germany’s international competitiveness as a high-tech hub.
