Philipp Slusallek studied physics at the Universities Frankfurt and Tübingen, Germany. In 1995 he got his Ph.D. in computer graphics at the Erlangen University and became a Visiting Assistant Professor at Stanford University shortly thereafter. Since 1999 he has been a professor for computer graphics at Saarland University and, since 2008, a scientific director at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) where he leads the research department Agents and Simulated Reality and is now also a member of the DFKI executive board. He is a member of the High-Level Expert Group advising the EU Commission on AI and a co-founder of the European CLAIRE initiative, bringing together all of AI across Europe (claire-ai.org). His focus is on Trusted AI Technology By Design.
